Windelo Is Celebrating Its First Launch

The launch of the very first eco-catamaran marks a significant milestone for Windelo. This is an endorsement of hard work which has enabled to launch an innovant et environmentally friendly fast cruising catamaran.

Designed in partnership with the architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, a pair noted for their performance multihull designs, the 50 Adventure is the first yacht launched by Windelo and the production of a Windelo 54 Yachting is already started.

This fast blue-water cruising catamaran features an electric propulsion system that includes a great hydro-generation facilities, solar panels and the possibility to work under generator when it’s a necessity. SALE OF THE THIRD WINDELO CATAMARAN, A WINDELO 54 YACHTING

SALE OF THE THIRD WINDELO CATAMARAN, A WINDELO 54 YACHTING

Canet-en-Roussillon, 22 January 2021 - Windelo has had confirmation that the family is soon to grow. The entire crew is proud to announce the sale of its third boat, a Yachting version of the Windelo 54 catamaran. It will be available for charter in the Îles de Hyères Bay.

For a great sailing trip, team spirit, good company on board and sharing experiences are fundamental. Are they not? In any case they are the starting point for our new customers’ project. Two couples of friends loved the modularity of the nacelle, the amazing way it opens onto the exterior and the Windelo 54 Yachting’s eco-friendliness, so they decided to buy the catamaran together. Production of the boat has now started and it is expected to be launched this summer 2021.

First Windelo Catamaran Destined for Charter Management!

When not in use by the new owners, the Windelo 54 Yachting will be entrusted to APACA Catamaran, a charter management company, which will charter her with a professional skipper. So anyone who loves sailing will be able to charter this catamaran for a few days or weeks, setting sail from one of the most beautiful sailing spots in France – Îles de Hyères Bay.

This floating “second home” will be based in Îles de Hyères throughout the year. Our owners will enjoy delightful sailing trips in the western Mediterranean Basin, in the waters of the island of Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Corsica, Sardinia and even along the Italian and Spanish coasts, to name but a few destinations.

This is the start of a close collaboration between the Windelo teams and its customers. They have been won over by the catamaran’s clever management of space, her many innovations and eco-friendliness and wish to be actively involved in the promotion of Windelo catamarans. Opening up the Windelo 54 Yachting to chartering and being able to organize sea trials in the Mediterranean Sea will be a real bonus for the Windelo brand and will offer our owners a chance to make a satisfactory return on their investment.

Top Quality Equipment and Environmentally-friendly Sailing!

This Windelo 54 Yachting, which has yet to be named, will be fitted out with 4 cabins with double beds, two shower rooms and two separate heads. The skipper has a cabin with an ensuite shower and heads on the starboard. The nacelle will be fitted with rear tilt-up door, opening the space up to a 360° view, blurring the lines between the interior and exterior and making for better use of the outside platform at anchor.

Our owners also wanted to embrace sustainable eco-friendly sailing. The design office has been able to meet customer requirements by extending the electric engine’s range. The panoramic coachroof of the Windelo 54 offers a very large area which can be equipped with 3326W solar panels.

Powered by two 24kW electric engines, capable of operating via hydrogeneration, the catamaran has a considerable cruising range and the batteries can be recharged when the catamaran is under sail. The power from hydrogeneration is supplemented by electric power from the solar panels, meaning that the generators only need to be switched on after several hours of running the electric engines. In the event of long cruises on your engine, switching on the generators brings the boat’s range to about 1,100 nautical miles.

To make sailing easier and more comfortable, the catamaran’s winches are also fully electric.

Windelo 54 Yachting

Designed in collaboration with architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, renowned for the design of high-performance catamarans, the Yachting version is the most luxurious Windelo model, fitted out with high-spec materials and equipment. We have focused mainly on comfort and fittings on this boat. Her standard equipment and the options available all contribute to easy, comfortable, luxurious sailing.

New Experience offering 360° Modular Space

Make the most of the sea! In keeping with Windelo’s guiding philosophy, the architects invented a cockpit living space combined with a helm station, opening fully onto the sea. This ground-breaking solution offers extensive living space in a well-contained nacelle, making sailing and life on board an experience to remember.

Christophe Barreau confirms: “The team really welcomed new ideas with regard to how space was organized and this helped us to develop a really original concept that leverages all the positive features of the catamaran.” The result is a vast, single, seamless space comprising the cockpit and galley, with a 360° view of the sea, and retractable bulkheads opening it up to the fresh air.

Open Day – Every Friday by Appointment

The boat build has already started. If you wish to see our first Windelo 50 Adventure, which will remain in Canet until the summer of 2021, and the current Windelo 54 Yachting build, please make an appointment and we will be happy guide you around our factory and design office.

You will be able to meet the design and production teams to gain a better understanding of the many innovations on these catamarans and you will see the high level of quality.

An innovative forward cockpit

Windelo set itself the goal of building an ecological boat marrying performance, the joy of sailing and generous living spaces. Designed in partnership with architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, the eco-friendly Windelo catamaran, introduces several innovations such as the forward cockpit.

Located just aft of the mast, the forward cockpit has two steering wheels protected from the wind and spray and a good view of the sails and the bows. All the running rigging is at your fingertips, so the need to move about on deck is limited.

The Windelo cockpit opens onto the saloon and its design is central to sailing the boat and life together on board. With fully centralized controls, better visibility and optimal comfort, Windelo sailors can fully enjoy safe sailing with no concession to performance.

An innovative  choice

The forward cockpit caters to the desire for a comfortable social space for the entire crew, the skipper and the passengers.

Our innovation also reflects Windelo’s team effort to build a more practical catamaran offering better visibility and greater safety.

A comfortable, spacious, practical cockpit

The forward cockpit has a clear view of the sea. It can be closed off completely to protect the helmsman from the elements. The forward cockpit’s fixed and sliding openings (side, ceiling and front) offer an excellent view of the bows, sails, rigging and the catamaran’s foredeck.

On top of this, the Windelo cockpit keeps the skipper completely safe, successfully protecting them from spray and enabling them to anticipate any sailing problems with ease.

From a practical perspective, access to the cockpit is either from the stern through the saloon or at the bow from the deck.

You will love the interior, since all the running rigging, sailing instruments and catamaran controls are centralized and divided among, the 2 helm stations to starboard and port.

The multifunction display with its navigation features as well as the boat’s entire management system are located to starboard. The foresail sheets (gennaker, code 0, code 3) and the starboard daggerboard control are also located here. On the right hand, the engine controls facilitate maneuvering.

The foresails and self-tacking solent sheets and the port daggerboard control are located on the port side. Two repeater displays show the wind direction, speed and the autopilot controls.

The mainsail sheet and halyard are positioned on the central winch. The same is true of the furling leads.

Lastly, the electric windlass is built into the forward cockpit, making mooring maneuvering a lot easier.

We have done our utmost to design a comfortable catamaran that can be sailed safely solo, short-handed or with a crew.

Comfort in good company

The cockpit is modern and innovative, opening onto the saloon through completely watertight doors. The space offers unrivaled comfort and makes social interaction between the skipper and the crew a lot easier. You have to admit that exploring the seas in good company is one of sailing’s true pleasures.

A resounding architectural success

Windelo has successfully built a comfortable, high-performance, ecological, people-friendly catamaran. By bringing all the navigation and boat controls into the cockpit, we have succeeded in modulating the space in a new way, improving the whole crew’s safety and offering true pleasure at the helm.

The space offers unrivaled comfort and makes social interaction between the skipper and the crew a lot easier.

The Windelo: Impeccably designed slim well-balanced hull

There is a lot concealed beneath the taut lines of the Windelo 50 Adventure’s hull!

All the Windelo catamarans are recognizable by their impeccably designed slim well-balanced hull, designed to enhance performance and seaworthiness.

Built for the pleasure of sailing and exploring, they permit a better performance than other catamarans of this size.

Barreau profile

The Windelo catamaran definitely bears the signature of the architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, notably having an excellent performance/comfort ratio. The assorted choices made by Windelo team regarding electric engines and environmentally friendly materials as well as the space management reconfirm the performance and innovation of our catamarans.

“The Windelo team is driven by a real desire to optimize the hull and they have given us the resources to do this”, says Christophe Barreau. We carried out CFD calculations and through digital modeling we created hull developments that reduce drag.”

Slim buoyant floats

The lengthened bouyant hull flares out above the waterline in such a way as to be sensitive to a moderate load. The peaks are slim, and the hulls narrow for greater waterline length. Volume is also provided by angling the floats 6° off the vertical axis. The load-bearing volume extends outward thereby increasing transverse stability.

Controlled proportions

The well-contained proportions of the nacelle compliment the very slender floats. With a bridgedeck clearance of 90 cm, the nacelle was positioned further aft to improve the boat’s passage through the sea.

The center of gravity was relocated aft contributing to the longitudinal stability and performance of the Windelo, which surfs easily and safely.

Good weight centering and good taut lines lessen movement when pitching – a true sign of performance and comfort.

Daggerboards

Our catamaran also gives you the edge upwind. Here again, the architects focus on efficiency, fitting the Windelo with fully retractable daggerboards. The long narrow daggerboard makes sailing upwind easy. By retracting, it increases the downwind speed and makes the boat safer in heavy weather.

When designing the boat, all the architects’ decisions were driven by the desire to optimize the seaworthiness of the Windelo catamarans.

Because they are stable and light, they can carry a generous sail plan. This is maneuvered from an innovative helm station in a new, pleasant, and practical forward position where the skipper enjoys a full view of the sea and the bows. The skipper sails from a sheltered position and can really enjoy the thrills of steering.

Windelos are undoubtedly fast, easy to handle cruising catamarans, built for sailing seas all over the world, in safety and comfort.

WINDELO CATAMARANS a new innovate player in the catamaran market - MULTIHULLS WORLD #174 November/December 2020

The Windelo project was unveiled at La Grande Motte in April 2019 at the International Multihull show. The first phase of construction of the Canet-en-Roussillon plant is now complete, and the Windelo 50 prototype will be launched very soon. An intensive test phase is then scheduled before the new range will be unveiled in April 2021. We decided to find out a little bit more about this new builder…

Photo : Phillipe Echelle / Multicoques Mag

While the multihull segment is more buoyant than ever, creating a new brand from scratch remains a major challenge. It’s no wonder then that Olivier Kauffmann, the director, is a born developer. He was Chairman of the Executive Board of Decathlon, founder of Orange Marine (online sales of marine equipment and clothing) and director of Cabesto (distribu- tion of products for fishing, hiking and boating). Coming from the windsurfing generation, Olivier has also cultivated a taste for ad- venture: he took a year’s sabbati- cal to go on a big trip hitchhiking by boat! The nascent Windelo saga is also a family story: his son Gauthier, a young engineer with a passion for innovation, runs the business. To date, the range offers four models: a 47 and a 57 whose plans will be available in 2021, a 50 that is currently being finished and has already been sold, and a 54 that should be launched in the spring of 2021. Windelo called on the Christophe Barreau/ Fréderic Neuman tandem, authors of a large part of the «classic» Catana range, the Outremer 45, 4X and 51, and the TS42 and TS5, among others. Their signature on a boat gives credibility, and the duo re-mains permanently at the fore-front of creativity when it comes to designing high-performance catamarans. Jean-Pierre Prade – founder of Catana with Thierry Goyard – has joined the team as industrial director and consultant; Didier Perrin (Syltec Consulting) brings his skills in composites and Jean Paul Siaudeau (JPS Concept, Imoca preparation and Ultimate) is in charge of all electrical sys-tems and propulsion.

ECO YACHTING GATHERS MOMENTUM AS THE NEW WINDELO 54 TAKES SHAPE

Following on from the first sale of the Windelo 50 Adventure last April the Windelo team is delighted to announce that the second Windelo to hit the water will be the Windelo 54 Yachting, due for launch in spring 2021.

Passionate divers take the plunge on the 54

The prospective owners of the new 54 are passionate and highly experienced divers who plan a dream trip to some of the most beautiful and remote dive sites in the world aboard the Windelo 54 Yachting. They were attracted to the Windelo for a number of reasons – one of the big ones being the semi-custom element which lies at the heart of Windelo’s ethos. The company allows a good deal of flexibility to accommodate the needs of individual customers. In this case, they have conceived a boat specially adapted to the owner’s ambitious diving trip. To this end, the boat is equipped with integrated diving equipment and also offers complete autonomy for up to four months living aboard in remote areas.

What makes the boat even more remarkable is that the owner stated that this autonomy came from electric power. Windelo has utilized the roof space on the 54 to equip the boat with 4.5kw of solar panels. This provides sufficient power to allow all the onboard equipment to run plus the diving compressor without the need to use the backup diesel generator.

The two 24kw electric motors aboard the 54 are also able to switch to hydrogeneration mode when the yacht is under sail, topping up the batteries and further increasing the autonomy of the yacht. In normal circumstances, the combination of solar panels and hydrogeneration mean that it won’t be necessary to run the diesel generators. If the winds fail and you are obliged to motor for long distances, the combination of generators and solar power will give the boat an autonomy of 1,100 miles.

WINDELO 54 Yachting

The 54 Yachting is the result of a collaboration between the design team of Christophe Barreau and Frederic Neuman, a pair noted for their performance multihull designs. The Yachting version of the 54 is the more luxurious option, fitted out with top-end deck hardware and instruments, all with the aim of providing a yacht that is fast, comfortable, luxurious, and easily handled by a small crew.

Experience a new lifestyle with a novel modular 360° space on board

‘Get the maximum amount of joy and pleasure from the sea!’ This is the key to the Windelo spirit and in order to stick to this credo, the team behind the 54 has drawn up a living space entirely open to the sea with complete 360-degree vision and easy access to the cockpit meaning that you have a huge living space plus helm station in a self-contained nacelle. This makes for a wonderful space for both living and sailing in total comfort.

Christophe Barreau explains: "We felt the team very open to really innovative solutions in terms of optimizing space and this allowed us to work on a really original concept which makes the most of the catamaran's strengths. The result is a vast, single, seamless space combining a saloon, a cockpit, and a galley, with a 360 ° view of the sea, and with tilt-up door and sliding doors and windows opening fully to the outside.”

The construction of the new 54 has already started, while the commissioning of the first Windelo 50 Adventure is almost complete and the boat is set to hit the water in November. The Windelo team prides itself on providing a personal touch. To this end, the team is opening the doors of its factory and offices every Friday by appointment. A beauch in Syvota

Greece is a country with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. This country is considered to be a sailing paradise, because of its numerous gulfs and archipelagos, therefore offering all kinds of seas and winds. Many virgin bays are accessible by boat only, and several hidden gems are waiting to be explored. The perfect climate makes of Greece around year destination for your sailing vacation, but to be precise, the best season runs from April to October.

The Ionian Sea

Mostly thermic and mild, the “Maistros” winds blow from the North West during the summer and make of the Ionian Sea an ideal destination for catamarans sailing. Specifically, the Ionian Islands distinguish themselves for their lush vegetation and their turquoise waters. Each of them is unique and characterized by its own history. Your itinerary could include almost all of the Ionian Islands!

Corfu Island

Corfu is known as one of the most delightful Greek islands. Evoking the Venetian aristocracy and marked by its rich history, it constitutes the ultimate location for cultural immersion. With many beaches to explore, it is the favorite destination of many Greeks and tourists every year. Some of the most renowned beaches are ‘’Canal d’Amour’’, ‘’Issos’’, ‘’Paleokastritsa’’ and ‘’Glyfada beach’’. Many beaches are accessible by boat only, such as ‘’Paradise’’ Beach and the caves close to the ‘’Liapades’’ beach. However, you can also sail to the northern part of the island where you will find the Erikoussa island, and there, you will have the pleasure to enjoy crystal-clear blue waters. Moreover, you can sail across Corfu on the Greek mainland, where you will find Syvota, a place with several must-see beaches, again, accessible by boat only!

Paxi and Antipaxi are two of the smallest islands of the Ionian Sea located on the southern coast of Corfu. These two islands are extraordinarily beautiful. Due to the many yachts that moor at its port every summer, Paxi is one of the hottest destinations to sail in Greece. Paxi is covered by olive trees, pebbled beaches, and small picturesque villages! In Paxi, the ‘’Erimitis’’ beach is marvelous and perfect for your morning dives! According to experts, Lefkada’s sea is one of the best to sail in the world. In fact, sailing around Lefkas feels like sailing in paradise. Some famous anchorages of Lefkas are ‘’Nidri’’ and ‘’Syvota’’. The most delightful beaches are ‘’Egremni’’, ‘’Porto Katsiki’’, ‘’Kathisma’’ and the amazing ‘’Kalamitsi’’! Although, Lefkas is also seen as a stepping stone to Ithaca and Zakynthos: on your way to Ithaca, some of the hidden gems are the wonderful Meganisi with its bays, the private island of Skorpios, the serenely and ravishing Atoko as well as Kalamos island, where you can walk around an exquisite pine forest!

Ithaca, Ulysses’ home, is another Ionian island that boasts a natural landscape as well as mesmerizing beaches. ‘’Vathy’’, Ithaca’s capital is a town located in the South of the island. There, you will find charming alleys and red-tiled roof houses. ‘’Filiatro’’ is a calm bay with white pebbles and crystal waters, surrounded by the Mediterranean vegetation. Located in the East of the island, ‘’Sarakiniko’’ is one of the most famous beaches in Ithaca.

Between Lefkada in the North and Zakynthos in the South, Kefalonia is the largest and greenest Ionian island. Being a picturesque village with neoclassical buildings and rich in sensational food, Fiskardo bay is a great place to stop during your sailing trip! ‘’Myrtos’’ beach is one of the most photographed beaches in the whole of Greece. Similarly, Antisamos is a popular place to sail: close to Sami’s port, it is unique for its natural beauty, made of emerald waters and marvelous green hills. An interesting fact is that following the Hollywood movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”, Antisamos, where many of its scenes where filmed, gained a worldwide reputation. Do not miss out on visiting the Melissani cave, which constitutes a unique geological phenomenon: there, you can admire stalactites and swim in mind-blowing blue waters.

Polyaigos, in the Aegean Sea

Zakynthos is ready to unveil its mysteries to you! You will be overwhelmed by the astonishing sunsets on the vertical cliffs of the island. New Boatyard for Windelo Catamaran

With the delivery of its new industrial facility in the port of Canet-en-Roussillon last March, WINDELO is now established for the long term in the French region of Occitania. The Windelo team is currently building the first Adventure 50 eco-friendly catamaran, which has already been sold.

After a year of construction works at the boatyard, the Windelo team has now settled into its new 1600 sq. m production facility. Setting up the facility in the Occitania region was a strategic choice. It enables Windelo to benefit from all the expertise and infrastructures on offer at the port of Canet-en-Roussillon. The 4000 sq. m quayside plot is the first development phase for the boatyard. “The diversity of professionals and facilities in the area make it a hub of excellence for every aspect of the catamaran business. Following the evolution of the project, we could gradually expand our facilities to 10,800 sq. m,” says Gautier Kauffmann, Operations Manager at Windelo.

An Industrial Facility Designed for Building Environmentally Friendly Catamarans

“Our production facility is tailored to our industrial process. It was designed to accommodate new developments in our boat range, and satisfy increases in demand. It houses all the services needed to build and market our boats, including a design office, marketing, sales, and administrative departments, and component manufacturing, assembly and fitting workshops,” adds Gautier Kauffmann.

The Windelo boatyard is divided into distinct zones. The structure of boats is made from an eco-friendly basalt fibre and PET composite in a cutting-edge infusion facility. Once trimmed in the building designed for that purpose, different elements are assembled in the main workshop where three boats can be built at the same time.

The production facility also includes joinery where all the furniture and components for fitting out the boats are made.

Drawing 1: Ground floor of the Windelo production facility showing the assembly, infusion, joinery, and storage areas.

A mezzanine at the back of the workshop provides direct access to the sterns of the boats under construction. This facilitates fitting out the catamarans’ decks and interiors. Various elements can thus be prepared and finished on the mezzanine before being fitted to the boats.

The storage rooms are split between the ground floor and the raised deck to optimize the space for boat building.

Drawing 2: The first floor of the Windelo production facility

This first development phase for the yard will enable to build about ten catamarans every year, with the number of employees steadily increasing to approximately fifty. Once the project has been rolled out completely, the boatyard will enable Windelo to triple production over the next few years.

Hakuna Matata's, the 1st Windelo 50 Adventure, North Atlantic circuit - Multihulls World N° 172

“Hakuna Matata – A North Atlantic circuit next summer”

«Good judgment comes from experience… Unfortunately, experience comes from bad judgment. »

A Multihulls World reader for the past year, I have a Windelo 50 currently in build, on which we are planning a North Atlantic circuit as a family from May to December 2021. So how did this project come about? We’d been talking about taking a six-month family trip for a long time. But with a busy professional life and the children’s studies to think about, the idea had taken a back seat. However, it was high time that we made this dream come true!

For quite a few years now, we have been chartering boats, mainly cats, for between two and five weeks at a time, in the Mediterranean or Brittany (France). The choice of Windelo was a natural one. I like the innovation and customization possibilities. The Windelo has a lot to offer: a good team, a beautiful production site, and a high-performance boat.

Our catamaran is currently under construction at Canet-en-Roussillon, in the South of France. We would like to offer other catamarans the opportunity of sailing with us, with everyone keeping their own program and being able for example to join us wherever and whenever it suits them. If you have sailed this route and have any advice, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our departure is planned for May 2021 and our journey should take us around Spain and then Ireland, Scotland (July), the Faroe Islands and Iceland, Canada (September), and the United States and the Bahamas. From November to January: Cuba, then the West Indies. Why this route? It should allow us to avoid the high summer heat while benefiting from long sunny days, favorable winds, magical sites, and the Indian Summer…

    Ecological approach

As part of the creation of new types of catamaran made in Occitanie, an audacious choice of ecological innovation has been selected in partnership with the Materials Center of « Mines d’Alès » (C2MA – IMT MINES ALES) (Gard, France). It’s a question of combining ecological performance in terms of minimizing the environmental footprint and structural resistance, and this, in a global approach of circular economy on all parts of the boat. To do this, and in connection with the IMT MINES ALES, Windelo has relied on the use of secondary raw materials, competitive  virgin petroleum-based materials, that fully comply with the specifications in terms of mechanical performance. This is a real first step to the development of a 2.0 fleet ships fully integrated into the challenges and ecological challenges of the 21st century.

Resistance of materials and mechanical tests

Associated with an ecological approach of circular economy integrating a not insignificant part of competitive secondary raw materials from virgin materials, the architectural design and the resistance of materials on the new Windelo catamarans are mechanically tested in the Materials Center of « Mines d’Alès » (C2MA – IMT MINES ALES) (Gard, France) in connection with the architects and designers of the project. The design of the ship, and in particular the hulls and bows, go through a search for efficient structuring and arranging of materials composing it, combined with a mechanically optimized geometrical assembly. To this end, specific test developments, such as the study of distortion of the structure and of the panels constituating the hull of the ship, are studied by digital image correlation techniques coupled with standardized strength tests.

“The cruising program for this new boat raises the question of the antagonism between the search for performance under sail and the pleasure of navigation, and the development of pleasant living spaces.
The originality of the answer is provided here in the arrangement of the cockpit bringing together the helm and maneuvers to the center of the boat and in the arrangement of living space that occupies the rear of the nacelle.

Just behind the mast the outer cockpit offers two helm stations protected from the wind and spray, a beautiful view of the sails and bows, and allows to have all the maneuvers on hand while limiting the needs to circulate on the bridge. Out of navigation, the cockpit can be more widely protected from the outside and open to the rear space.

Fully opened behind this cockpit, we have not developed two living spaces duplicating one inside the other but a single large space which is ajustable. We have focused our efforts on the geometry of the material and visual limits of this space and on the opening kinematics of the bays. Once opened, they “disappear” to transform the interior into an exterior. The generosity of these openings also allows to modulate the ventilation of this space by playing on a wide range of opening on its four sides

This work on the modularity and the disappearance of limits is found at the extreme rear of the nacelle, with an articulated platform to the davits transforming it into a floor when anchored, and in the rear cabins, whose wide turning porthole eliminates the angle between side plating and back side. The cabin space is therefore generous despite the relative narrowness of the hulls.

All these choices allow us to combine a contained hold of the nacelle, pledge control of the weight estimate, to a generous living space, with a central part given to navigation and maneuvering. The slenderness of the forward spikes, the significant free height under the platform, and the attention paid to the centering of the masses, complete the marine qualities expected for an offshore navigation program.

The other originality of the project brought by this new construction site is in the approach of “eco-design” on materials and construction. Strongly limiting the use of molds, the latter brings a greater margin of freedom in the variations and evolutions of the boats thus conceived. ”

Who could know if it is the father or the son who is the most  passionate? It doesn’t matter. The important thing  is to write an innovative project within a family culture, for today and for generations to come. Hand over the guiding light, this is Olivier Kauffmann’s will. “At first I wanted to make my own boat, for me and my family; go on trip around the world living on a  efficient and pleasant catamaran. I dreamed of a new quality of space. Today, the dream has matured, and I want to share it with the great family of sailors. »

Windelo is the desire to expose us to something new, innovative, powerful, bigger than oneself. To seek innovations on materials, techniques of industrialization and uses to impulse a new economic reality. “We want to be part of this transformation related to the respect of our environment, it is for us, essential to work in this respect of men and nature. Men are at the heart of the project with the desire to recruit and form a passionate team, surrounded by experts recognized as the best in their field.

And the innovation doesn’t stop here, because the constructive process makes it possible to envisage fast evolutions from one boat to another while remaining well priced. An ambitious and respectful project ; Welcome to the Windelo adventure.
